The GOP-controlled Congress is about to pass tax reform legislation that will simultaneously transfer billions of dollars to their wealthy donors (and themselves) and add trillions more to the national debt. Tax cuts for the rich and corporations will be permanent; tax cuts for you and me will sunset shortly after most of the congresscritters would retire or get “term-limited.”

There are still a lot of details that could change while the Senate and House reconcile their differences, but that is the general scheme. Will the individual mandate survive? If so, will affordable health care? It’s barely affordable now, FFS. Murkowski might finally get the ANWR drilling she craves. (Hmm, that sounded kinda dirty. Oh well.)

Their long game is to rob Medicare and Social Security, of course. They’ll need all the sexual abusers and child rapists they can muster to secure the necessary votes for that. To be fair, Democrats aren’t pushing out harassers in vulnerable seats just yet, either. The first resignation of a sexual harassing Congressman will occur at their party’s earliest political convenience. Conyers will leave before Franken, and Alabama Republicans will do their best to get Roy Moore into the Senate, no matter how many children he molests. They need him to prevent the eventual impeachment of a tweeting president.
