Another eventful Wednesday. Two weeks ago it was an attempted coup, or insurrection, or putsch on Capitol Hill; last week it was another impeachment of President Trump for inciting said insurrection; and this week we saw the inauguration of President Joe Biden, as well as the historic swearing in of Vice President Kamala Harris as the first woman, Black person and Indian person in that office.

I would like a boring Wednesday. To his credit, the new president delivered a low key, pretty boring ceremony, aided by Senators Klobuchar and Blunt. In previous years, most people would have tuned this out, but today everyone I know, including myself, watched this event with scenes from Tom Clancy-style movies dancing in their heads. Thankfully, it was just a normal swearing in ceremony, albeit depressed by the small attendance due to pandemic and security considerations.

Next Wednesday might have its own surprises. After all, there is an impeachment trial coming. We are, alas, not done with Trump yet.
